Sumario:The present dossier is intended to present the conservation, documentation and digitization of anthropological collections and documentary collections associated with institutional storage spaces or repositories. It is important to emphasize that preservation is a transversal action of multiple disciplines that usually interact within museums or research institutes, and are part of the scientific field. This in turn is part of a continuous work that involves preserving, documenting and digitizing. In the preservation of cultural heritage there are two main paths: preventive conservation and restorative conservation. The works presented here focus on the first approach and on the interaction with the information associated with the objects and the documentary collections that contextualize the objects and collections. These researches aim to complement a museological approach and to reconstruct the historical processes experienced by collections and archives. Beyond documenting, they also contribute to reconstruct biographies, and delve into the meanings or significance of collections and archives. Also relevant for this dossier are the works that address the digitization of heritage, which is complemented by digital preservation strategies such as the placement on digital repositories, which not only operate as preservation spaces but also as open repositories whose goal is also the dissemination of heritage.
