Sumario:Starting from conceiving the vegetation as composed of meanings, representations and stories associated with it, in this article we expose and problematize how certain trees and bushes are immersed in unequal meshworks of construction of ethnic identities and landscapes. Through a study that relates ethnographic work with the search for historical sources and current newspaper articles, we investigate the memories and representations that are built on an apple tree, chañar, chacay and sweetbriar rose located in the center-west of the province of Mendoza. We postulate that this vegetation activates and builds memories that catalyze the inclusion, hierarchization or resistance of ethnic identities and the landscapes to which they are associated. Our study area is located next to the front mountain range of the Andes, in one of the first irrigated areas of the Uco Valley, which, for the last three decades, has been experiencing a process of foreignization and concentration of land and water and of updating the European-civilizing imaginary promoted by the provincial state since the end of the 19th century.
