description The following work explores how the women of the Police of the province of Santa Fe (Argentina) use and justify violence in interactions with citizens during the fulfillment of their daily tasks. It is part of an extensive investigation carried out in 2020 and 2021 about the biographical and work trajectories of these agents from the perspective of 95 interviewees. For this article, a content analysis was carried out with the ATLAS.TI software to capture the vocabularies of reasons commonly used by police officers to justify resorting to violence in their professional experiences. The results show that women exercise violence, however, they do so to a lesser extent when faced with other repertoire of possible actions (such as the use of words and mediation). This can be explained by several elements that are associated with the feminization of police work: confinement to administrative tasks, the administration of “criterion”, or the possibility of “losing” their careers within the police institution. Likewise, the masculine police self implies that, in some cases, attributes associated with “femininity” are renegotiated or experienced with frustration.
