A lo largo de los 100 años de vida que tiene el Instituto de Arqueología y Museo de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, no se ha realizado una recopilación o estudio de las distintas exposiciones que se han llevado a cabo desde la misma. A partir de esto, surge la necesidad de conocer el devenir histórico y museográfico de las mismas considerando el tiempo, sus espacios institucionales y de montaje, los objetivos que le dieron origen, las temáticas expositivas, los guiones museográficos, considerando las apoyaturas empleadas entre otros recursos de montaje. A su vez, ha sido difícil hallar los guiones museográficos de las muestras del IAM, por temas como incompatibilidad de los registros digitales dadas las innovaciones tecnológicas (por ej. los soportes en disquetes no pudieron recuperarse para su lectura, motivo por el cual la base de datos requiere ser permanentemente renovada con datos concretos y específicos de la historia de vida de las piezas que la institución protege y resguarda. Ao longo dos 100 anos de vida do Instituto de Arqueologia e Museu da Universidade Nacional de Tucumán, não houve nenhuma compilação ou estudo das diferentes exposições que foram realizadas ali. A partir disso, surge a necessidade de conhecer a evolução histórica e museográfica dessas exposições, considerando a época, seus espaços institucionais e de montagem, os objetivos que as originaram, os temas das exposições, os roteiros museográficos, considerando os adereços utilizados, entre outros recursos de montagem. Ao mesmo tempo, tem sido difícil encontrar os roteiros museográficos das exposições do IAM, devido a questões como a incompatibilidade dos registros digitais diante das inovações tecnológicas (por exemplo, os suportes de disquetes não puderam ser recuperados para leitura, razão pela qual o banco de dados precisa ser permanentemente renovado com dados concretos e específicos sobre a história de vida das peças que a instituição protege e salvaguarda.
