Sumario:Things are a place where various paths intersect and entwined, they are a knot made up of multiple threads that can be traced beyond the knot itself. The following essay seeks to offer an alternative to interpret the sedimentary record in archeology. We propose to conceptualize soils and strata as things. This new interpretative form will invite us to reflect that everything that involves archaeological materials is not only a class within the sedimentary taxonomy, but that soils and strata are the result of a complex assembly of actors. After the definition and discussion of a series of terms such as soils, strata, objects and things, we will interpret Cárcava Paso del Hervideros site´s sedimentary sequence as a thing. This heuristic tool thats provides contextual information from the past, also can be used to identify elements in order to broaden the horizon of archaeological research. In this way we generate an assembly composed of the multiple elements that shape the thing-sequence of the archaeological site and we will expose the threads that will guide future research.
