| Sumario: | We propose in these articles to reflect on the phenomenon of violence in Argentine soccer using some conceptual work tools of Norbert Elias. This reflection involves a dual path. First, we will investigate the relationship between violence and sport in the context of conception of what Norbert Elias called the “process of civilization”, and then, analyze the subsequent work performed alongside German sociologist Eric Dunning on the particular issue of violence in soccer. Having minimally broken these two possibilities, we will use ethnographic experience to describe the peculiarities of the phenomenon in Argentina, finally establishing a dialogue between the ethnographic data and eliasiana point of view. |
