Sumario:This paper seeks to dive into the global processes affecting local urban planning, emphasizing particularly the transformations that have taken place within at regulatory and government level, and within urban planning and production paradigms for cities, which facilitate coordination between multilateral organizations and municipalities of mid-size cities. On that vein, this work aims to understand the relation between increased city commodification and the implementation of neoliberal urbanization programs. These programs are considered to be based on new state organization paradigms, such as new public management and governance, and—in turn—they also generate new city planning modes and models.
