| Sumario: | In this article, Jujuy metropolitan area, the capital city of the province located in the NOA region of Argentina is treated as a case study. The city currently holds the 16th place in the national network of cities. It is a marginal region, regarding its geographical situation, (the northwest end of the country) with a border status and a strong migratory pressure from the neighboring country of Bolivia.
In the last two decades, the Jujuy metropolitan area has been the subject of numerous actions by the State. This research studies the impact of these public works on the conformation of the agglomerate and its effect on the processes of socio-spatial fragmentation. As stated by De Sena (2018), it is a question of observing the State which evaluates how the transformations operated in its action in recent decades have contributed or not to the development of the city in terms of integration and socio-spatial articulation.
To this end, various state actions are categorized and mapped. This information intersects with the environmental problems in order to assess the impact of the urban development operations carried out on the integral development of urban areas. |
