Sumario:Contemplating the enormous social, economic and technological changes in the field of cultural industries and, specifically, in the production and audiovisual consumption occurred during the last three decades, surely there should be very few surprised that someone expresses his vocation to study a career linked to audiovisuals. But how to dimension this change?. Here we propose to inquire about some data of that growth in Latin America, taking as a comparative reference data of cinematographic production during the last two decades in relation to the proliferation of film schools in four countries of the region: Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico . At the same time, putting in relation the increase of the cinematographic production during the period and the international recognitions to the films of directors arisen from schools of cinema in two of the most recognized awards events: the Oscar prizes and the Festival of Cannes.
