Fontán submerges himself into the universe of his parents home so that he can narrate the subsistence of an acacia that lives in the sidewalk of the house. Through various cinematographic language resources he proposes a way the representation that escapes from any category and gender to integrate them in a narration inhabitated by the cotidianity of an elderly couple. The text proposes an analysis of the representation used by the director to recognize the universe builted with the cinematographic language resources. El presente trabajo aborda la película El árbol (2006) de Gustavo Fontán, primera película del Ciclo de la casa, obra que inicia a un modo distintivo de producción en la filmografía del director. Fontán se sumerge en el universo de su casa paterna para narrar la subsistencia de una acacia que habita la vereda del hogar. A través de diversos recursos plantea un modo de representación que escapa a categorías y géneros, para integrarlas a un relato poblado por lo cotidiano de una pareja de ancianos. El texto se propone un análisis de la representación trabajada por el director, para reconocer el universo construido, a través de los recursos del lenguaje cinematográfico.
