Roots of sine and cosine functions

The aim of this work is to obtain a general formula for the roots of functions of the type f(x) = k sin(a(x − c)) + b, g(x) = k cos(a(x − c)) + b, for differents values of a, b, c and k. We start finding, for each one of the given functions, a root xR and the abscise xM of a maximum point which is a...

Sumario:The aim of this work is to obtain a general formula for the roots of functions of the type f(x) = k sin(a(x − c)) + b, g(x) = k cos(a(x − c)) + b, for differents values of a, b, c and k. We start finding, for each one of the given functions, a root xR and the abscise xM of a maximum point which is adjacent of xR. From the distance between these two values and the period of the function, all the other roots are determined.
