Sumario:Between 1888 and 1897, nine volumes of the Salvadoran magazine The University were published. In this period, articles related to botany were published about therapeutic, taxonomic, cultural, economic, and microscopic topics, authored by Salvadoran university teachers and foreign scientists. The aim of the article is to understand the role of botany in the university magazine between 1888 and 1897 as part of the publishing project for the dissemination of science at the end of the century. The different botanical practices that are published in The University are also recognized. The methodology is based on the study of scientific practices with an emphasis on botany, aimed at recognizing natural resources through specialized writings in periodicals. In the magazine, in addition to botany, geography, zoology, astronomy, chemistry and medicine were published.
