| Sumario: | The aim of this article is to trace the flow of ideas and writings of the Latin-Americanism, Hispano-americanismo and / or Pan-hispanismo as the basis of cultural affirmation and continental emancipation, taking into account the supports and places of enunciation as the materiality of those contacts (letters, magazines, specialized publishers, institutions, etc.), addressing the particular situation of American modernism construction. From correspondence of Miguel de Unamuno with American writers and his newspaper columns of La Lectura. Revista de Ciencia y Artes, published in Madrid between 1901 and 1920, where he analyzes the American productions, this paper sets out to describe his role as cultural critic and nexus between American writers, and Spanish publishers and booksellers, in the constitution of a modernist intellectual generation. Particularly, we will explore the testimonial narratives and valuation about the Spanish-American language and literature, and the continental sociological essay that will be defined from this particular approach of the Spanish writer and the magazine, as a collective search for Hispanic traditions, genealogies, topographies within the American. |
