Sumario:Family support constitutes an important support network to favor a dignified life in the elderly. The objective of the study was to construct and establish the psychometric properties of the Family Support Scale in Older Adults. A random sample of 1168 older adults (60 years and older) living in the La Libertad Region (Peru) was used. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that both the three-factor oblique model and the second-order factor model have very good fit indices (CFI and TLI > .95; RMSEA of .06 and SRMR of .03) and high factor loadings (> .72). Evidence of content and construct validity was also satisfactory. The invariance by sex was corroborated, and ordinal alpha and omega coefficients higher than .95 were observed. It is concluded that the scale has satisfactory evidence of validity and reliability.
