Sumario:Early detection and clinical diagnosis of social anxiety becomes relevant for the prevention and treatment of this pathology. For these purposes, in Argentina the short version of the Social Anxiety and Phobia Scale (SPAI-B) has been adapted for use in adults. Although this instrument has been extremely useful for expanding the field of research in this country, so far there are no normative data that allow it to be useful as a diagnostic or classification tool. The aim of this work was to obtain the norms and cut scores of the SPAI-B in Argentinean adults from a sample of 1,513 people between 18 and 80 years of age. The norms were established according to age and sex using percentile values and T scores. The results showed that the cut-off points established as diagnostic criteria present good precision and a satisfactory discriminative power, showing the usefulness of the scale for research and clinical evaluation. Key-words: social anxiety; SPAI-B; norms; Argentinean adults.
