| Sumario: | The National Academy of Fine Arts was established in Buenos Aires in 1936 and designed an editorial program aimed at recovering the national territory´s artistic heritage. The result was the Documentos de Arte Argentino series, published between 1939 and 1947 composed of twenty-five volumes that travel through the Argentine provinces from the Northwest to the City of Buenos Aires. In this article, we inquire into the Academy’s interests to carry out this project, under the idea that the development of a photographic archive and its immediate dissemination became solidary with their editorial challenges. The figure of Martín Noel and his actions as leader of the Academy constitutes an axis that breaks through the article in the interpretation of his institutional practices and the links with public bodies. |
