‘Intellectuals’ in the Ancient World. Notes on a Historical Concept
The use of the term ‘intellectual’ for the pre-modern societies can be misleading and often anachronistic. Therefore, in this paper I propose to critically evaluate the concept to establish valid criteria for the ancient world.
