Anachronism has been considered a mistake by a more traditional historiography, but also a paradigm of historical interrogation, for the most recent art history. It is not so much about saving the game of opposites, as to address anachronism as a figuration, and beside other temporal figurations, in the specific sense in which Donna Haraway addresses this notion, that is, as it already contains a discussion with the best stabilized temporal frames. To this end, the paper puts forward three moments: first, it explores the critical nature of figuration; then, it offers a discussion about anachronism and its epistemic character; finally, it offers questions directed to the reflection of anachronistic bodies and materialities, i.e., that are at this time without belonging entirely to it.
