| Sumario: | On a holiday trip to the Middle East, we last visited as part of a tour, the Library of Alexandria.The city founded by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C. is today the second city as well as the biggest port of Egypt. The city has a new library opened in October 16, 2002.The library has the shape of a raising sun and it is situated almost in the same place as the old one, on the East port of Alexandria on the banks of the Mediterranean.The library currently has 500.000 volumes but it has the capacity to store more than 8 million books. |
