| Sumario: | Exposure to biological hazards is common in dental practice, and it is a globally morbidity and mortality problem. The purpose of this research was to investigate what knowledge students of the have, on such risks, how to prevent and how to proceed before an accident. A total of 192 students of the last year of the Faculty of Dentistry (UNC) were surveyed. 95% said know the risks associated with infectious diseases, but generally do not know which they are. With regard to the provision of prophylaxis, in some cases the responses were incorrect. 94% claimed to know the procedures before an accident, but answers were vague and lack of knowledge about the protocols to follow. From this study it appears that most students do not perceive the link between disease risk and not fully aware of the protocols related to exposure to biological material and immunization, or what to do with accidents in clinical practice |
