| Sumario: | The 27 February 2010 Chilean earthquake occurred at a magnitude of 8.3 degrees. The most affected regions were O’Higgins, Maule, Bio Bio, Valparaíso, Santiago and Araucanía. The aim of this study was to evaluate the spatial distribution of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the Chilean population. It was analyzed a database of the Post Earthquake Survey (EPT 2010, Chile). The sample of households was 22,456 and 75,986 people. Statistical analyzes were descriptive with cartographic representations.The prevalence of PTSD in the country was 11.1%. Prevalence by regions were observed between 7% and 24%, the most affected region was Liberator B. O’Higgins. The prevalence was analyzed by province in Chile, showing greater affectation in the province of Concepción (30.1%). Correlation was obtained between prevalence and distance from the epicenter, and between prevalence and estimated intensity. It can be concluded that at a higher level of spatial disaggregation it was obtained epidemiological data more accurately. |
