The “Royal Sea Expedition of the Vaccine” and its conductors Francisco Javier de Balmis and José Salvany, introducers of the preventive method in the Americas, are briefly mentioned. The review of the main historicl and marks of vaccination in Córdoba reveal the prominent role of these professors of our Faculty of Medical Sciences. La vacuna contra la viruela llegó a Buenos Aires el 5 de Julio de 1805, por iniciativa del Virre y Marqués de Sobre Monte que fundó el primer Conservatorio de Vacuna, bajo la dirección del Canónico Dr. Saturnino Segurola. Se hace un breve recuerdo de la “Real Expedición Marítima de la Vacuna” y a sus conductores Francisco Javier de Balmis y José Salvany, introductores del método de prevención en América. El repaso de los principales hitos históricos de la vacunación en Córdoba, revelan el papel destacado que tuvieron catedráticos de nuestra Facultad de Ciencias Médicas.
