Objective: To determine the nutritional status and diet quality of soccer players aged 12 to 17, in order to generate tools for nutritional assistance, care, and education based on local technical information that positively impacts sports performance. Methodology: Anthropometric evaluation was conducted using body mass index, while diet quality was assessed using 24-hour recall, qualitative frequency of consumption, and food diversity scoring methods, in a sample of 414 soccer players (328 males, 86 females). Results: Statistical significance was found for anthropometric normality, which reached 77.5% of the general sample, 19.5% of males were underweight and 33.7% of females were overweight. The quality of the diet was very poor for all participants, although females showed a caloric intake more aligned with acceptable macronutrient distribution ranges for the Venezuelan population. Conclusions: Overall, carbohydrate intake levels are below requirements, protein intake is significantly above requirements, and the quality of fats consumed is poor. It is necessary to reduce the intake of meats, dairy products, and processed food, and to increase the intake of fruits, legumes, tubers, pulses, and seeds, in that way providing the necessary nutrients to enhance sports performance, growth, development, and long-term healthy living. |

Introducción: la nutrición se considera parte vital del rendimiento y la recuperación de los deportistas, yen el caso de futbolistas adolescentes se ve doblemente vinculada dado que atraviesan un período dedesarrollo y crecimiento físico. Objetivo: conocer el estado nutricional y calidad de la dieta de los futbolistasentre 12 y 17 años, para generar herramientas de asistencia, atención y educación nutricional basadasen información técnica local que incidan positivamente en el rendimiento deportivo. Metodología: laevaluación antropométrica se realizó a través del índice de masa corporal, mientras que para la calidadde la dieta se aplicaron los métodos de recordatorio de 24 horas, frecuencia cualitativa de consumo ypuntaje de diversidad alimentaria, en una muestra de 414 futbolistas (varones n=328, mujeres n=86).Resultados: se encontró significancia estadística para la normalidad antropométrica que alcanzó el 77,5%de la muestra general, reportando un 19,5% de varones con bajo peso y 33,7% de mujeres con sobrepeso;la calidad de la dieta resultó muy mala para todos los participantes, aunque las mujeres evidenciaronuna fórmula calórica más ajustada a los rangos aceptables de distribución de macronutrientes para lapoblación venezolana. Conclusiones: en general el nivel de ingesta de carbohidratos es menor a susrequerimientos, el de proteína es muy superior y la calidad de las grasas consumidas es mala. Necesitandisminuir su consumo de cárnicos, lácteos y productos industrializados, mientras incrementan el defrutas, legumbres, tubérculos, leguminosas y semillas; favoreciendo así el aporte necesario de nutrientespara aumentar su rendimiento deportivo, crecer, desarrollarse y vivir una vida saludable a largo plazo. Objetivo: conhecer o estado nutricional e a qualidade da alimentação de jogadores de futebol entre 12 e 17 anos, para gerar ferramentas de asistência nutricional, cuidado e educação baseadas em informações técnicas locais que tenham impacto positivo no desempenho esportivo. Metodologia: a avaliação antropométrica foi realizada por meio do índice de massa corporal, enquanto para a qualidade da dieta foram aplicados os métodos recordatório de 24 horas, frequência qualitativa de consumo e escore de diversidade alimentar, em uma amostra de 414 jogadores de futebol (homens). n=328, mulheres n=86). Resultados: Evidenciou-se significância estatística para a normalidade antropométrica que atingiu 77,5% da amostra geral, resultando 19,5% de homens com baixo peso e 33,7% de mulheres com excesso de peso; a qualidade da dieta foi muito ruim para todos os participantes, embora as mulheres apresentassem uma fórmula calórica mais ajustada às faixas aceitáveis de distribuição de macronutrientes para a população venezuelana. Conclusões: em geral o nível de ingestão de hidratos de carbono é inferior às necessidades, a ingestão de proteínas é muito superior e a qualidade das gorduras consumidas é fraca. Precisam reduzir o consumo de carnes, laticínios e produtos industrializados, ao mesmo tempo em que aumentam o consumo de frutas, legumes, tubérculos, leguminosas e sementes; promovendo assim o aporte necessário de nutrientes para acrescentar o seu desempenho desportivo, crescer, desenvolver-se e viver uma vida saudável ao longo prazo.
