The objective of this study is to assess occupational noise exposure in a metalworking company according to current legal regulations in order to reduce the impact on workers’ health. We carried out research with a descriptive, quantitative, and cross-sectional design. Study population is made up of 8 workers, intentionally selected by the company, who are exposed to noise levels likely to exceed the permissible limit and to significant noise episodes during the workday. A conventional REED brand sound level meter, model R8090, previously calibrated with an "A" weighting filter and slow response (SLOW), was used. The strategy and measurement of sound pressure levels at different workstations were guided by ISO 9612:2010 standards. According to the results of sound pressure level measurements in the metalworking company, workers involved in the disassembly of equipment and electronic parts are exposed to noise levels exceeding the permissible limits of 85 dBA established in Resolution 1792 of 1990 by the Ministry of Labor, which indicates a high probability of permanent hearing loss. We recommend future research regarding the loss of hearing capacity in workers with chronic exposure to high levels of occupational noise in the metalworking sector. |

El objetivo del presente estudio es evaluar la exposición a ruido ocupacional en una empresa metalmecánica según normatividad legal vigente para disminuir el impacto en la salud de los trabajadores. El diseño de investigación es descriptivo cuantitativo y transversal. En cuanto a la población de estudio está conformada por 8 trabajadores, la selección fue intencional de parte de la empresa a los trabajadores expuestos a niveles de ruido susceptibles de superar el valor límite permisible y la existencia de episodios de ruido significativos durante la jornada de trabajo. Se utilizó el sonómetro convencional marca REED, modelo R8090 previamente calibrado con filtro de ponderación “A” y respuesta lenta (SLOW). Para la selección de la estrategia y medición del nivel de presión sonora en los diferentes puestos de trabajo se toma como directriz la Norma ISO 9612:2010. De acuerdo con los resultados de las mediciones del nivel de presión sonora en la empresa metalmecánica, los trabajadores que laboran en el proceso de desarme de equipos y piezas electrónicas se encuentran expuestos a niveles de ruido que sobrepasan los valores límites permisibles de 85 dBA establecidos en la Resolución 1792 de 1990 del Ministerio del Trabajo, en la cual tiene una alta probabilidad de padecer pérdida auditiva permanente. Se recomienda realizar futura investigación relacionado con la pérdida de la capacidad auditiva en los trabajadores con una exposición crónica a altos niveles de ruido ocupacional en los lugares de trabajo del sector metalmecánico. O objetivo deste estudo é avaliar a exposição ao ruído ocupacional em uma empresa metalmecânica de acordo com as normas legais vigentes para reduzir o impacto na saúde dos trabalhadores. O desenho da pesquisa é descritivo, quantitativo e transversal. Quanto à população em estudo, a qual é constituída por 8 trabalhadores, a seleção foi intencional por parte da empresa de trabalhadores expostos a níveis de ruído suscetíveis de ultrapassar o valor limite permitido e à existência de episódios de ruído significativos durante a jornada de trabalho. Foi utilizado o medidor de nível sonoro convencional REED, modelo R8090, previamente calibrado com filtro de ponderação “A” e resposta lenta (SLOW). Para a seleção da estratégia e medição do nível de pressão sonora nos diferentes trabalhos, tomase como diretriz a Norma ISO 9612:2010. De acordo com os resultados das medições de nível de pressão sonora na empresa metalmecânica, os trabalhadores que atuam no processo de desmontagem de equipamentos e peças eletrônicas estão expostos a níveis de ruído que ultrapassam os valores limites permitidos de 85 dBA estabelecidos na Resolução 1.792 de 1990 do Ministério do Trabalho, onde há grande probabilidade de sofrer perda auditiva permanente. Sugerem-se pesquisas futuras relacionadas à perda auditiva em trabalhadores com exposição crônica a elevados níveis de ruído ocupacional em locais de trabalho metalúrgicos.
