| Sumario: | Residencies are shaped as a specific model to train specialists which differentiate for the intensive practice and immersion in the health services. In 2006, the National System of Accreditation of Residencies of the Health Team was created to evaluate if equivalent training opportunities are guaranteed. Regarding the method, this research focuses on medical residences and was based on documentary sources (595 ministry provisions from 2011-2020). Among the results, on the one hand we observed geographic concentration in Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, low participation of some jurisdictions in the system, active participation of the private system and concentration in some specialties; on the other hand, it was seen that 10 out of 10 accredited residencies received advice on the development of the training process, 7 out of 10 on the program pedagogical proposal and 6 out of 10 on the functioning conditions. Despite being a federal and compulsory accreditation system for all medical residencies of the public sector and although the system was created 15 years ago; from the analysis of recommendations we observe failure to comply with many of the standards defined by the Ministry of Health resulting in no equivalent training opportunities.
