Sumario:Abstract Objective: To compare psychosocial risk dimensions in urban area and rural area teachers from Chuquisaca, Bolivia. Method: A cross sectional study was carried out in 60 schools chosen at random (27 urban, 23 rural) in Chuquisaca; 1062 teachers were invited to participate (response 58%). To measure psychosocial risks, the short version of the questionnaire SUSESO-ISTAS21 was used, calculating odd ratios and its confidence interval of 95%, through models of logistic regression adjusted according to age, gender, higher academic degree and income. Results: Rural area teachers showed higher percentages of psychosocial risk compared to urban area ones, mainly in these dimensions: psychological demand (ORa 1.6; CI 95% 1.1-2.5), social support and leadership quality (2.9; 1.9-4.8) and doble presence (2.2; 1.5-3.4). Conclusions: Differences were found in psychosocial risks, unfavorable for rural area teachers, fact which could have an effect on mental and physical health.
