| Sumario: | Abstract Objective: To analyze the association between work rhythm and general mental health in a population of housemaids in Argentina. Method: cross sectional study. Sample of 201 housemaids (Answer 94%). European Survey on Working Conditions and Health, Golberg Scale (GHQ12) and ad hoc questionnaire. Prevalence of common mental disorders (CMD) defined as GHQ12 ? 5. Descriptive statistics, bivariate analysis (chi square test) and mutually adjusted logistic regression were used. Results: Population: 45% under 29 years old, 53% only primary education, 65% foreigner, 22% high work rhythm. CMD prevailing for 53%. High work rhythm (4.4: 1.4-14.1), age 30-39 (5.4:2.0-15.0), intermediate education (4.4:1.5-13.1) and more than 9 years of service (3.4:1.1-11.3) were associated with CMD. Conclusions: high work rhythm is an important predictor for CMD, as well as certain ages, length of service and education. |
