Sumario:This paper presents an analytical model for acquisitions in foreign markets, based on a study in a brazilian company (Fras-le S/A). The company, which operates in the production of friction materials, is considered the largest in Latin America in this segment and aims to increase its global market share by adopting, among other strategies, actions to acquiring companies in foreign markets. The article begins with a literature review in order to characterize the possible forms of action in foreign markets, with emphasis on methods of Merger and Acquisition. The following issues are the traditional and contemporary techniques to analyze target companies for acquisition, highlighting the multicriteria analysis method called Analythic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The paper also discusses the critical variables to be considered in the evaluation of companies to be acquired. After the study of the main variables related to the process of acquisition, is purposed a model to support decision-making process for the studied company. Finally, the purposed model is applied to an acquisition process of the company and the results are presented and discussed to aim future applications of the model.
