| Sumario: | This article exposes different challenges that urban environmental policy has, facing the construction of a socially equitable territorial configuration, and environmentally sustainable, in an intermediate Latin American city, to give an example Pereira (Risaralda, Colombia)
In the first chapter, the text explains how the urban expansion in the municipality of Pereira is reported after Law 388 of 1997. Both the emergence of the Land Use Plan in 2000, as well as its update in 2016, stands out. This subject is based on the research entitled: "Sustainable Cities in the Post-Conflict" that was carried out in the city of Pereira in 2017.
The second chapter shows the case of the defense of an urban forest known as “Bosque de Alamos” stablished on a citizen initiative Zentinelas del Bosque de Álamos (Bosque de Alamos Guardians) that has defended the permanence of the urban environmental corridor against a project that pretends to destroy it by building two towers. The article concludes by arguing the need to continue supporting alliances between citizen mobilization and academia in order to defend life over the interests of Latin American cities private sector. |
