Sumario:The effects of androesterility induction in sunflower (Helinthus annuus L.), by GA application, were determined on the following aspects: Amount and viability of pollen produced, production of vain fruits, percentage of normal seeds giving viable seedlings, percentage of hybrid seeds by hand pollination, and modifications of treated plants. The Impira INTA population and the inbred lines “B Mf 76-2” and “R Mf 76-63” were treated with 75, 100, and 125 ppm of AG3 aqueous solution at one time. The material was conducted in a randomized complete block design, with factorial arrangement. The best results were obtained with a dose of 125 ppm, which resulted in an average of 75.92 % hybrid seed. A greater sensitivity of the inbred lines to the phytohormone used was observed.
