The Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM) is facing a feminist student strike promoted by members of its community as a pressure mechanism for action to be taken counter to violence against women at the university and initiated by a specific case of violence in Cuajimalpa unit. The objective of this paper is to analyze the responses of the UAM to the requests of the feminist student strike of 2023 to glimpse the challenges to end the strike, but also that the UAM transforms itself and returns to its transformative vocation. The methodology is qualitative based on documentary review and statistical data. The UAM is questioned in its work as an educator, as a trainer, but also as a public university and institution. Specific actions are required such as: improving, expanding, and strengthening the regulations to act against violence; educate the community; integrate trained personnel; and a critical reflection that allows generating change, to improve university environments and resume the role of the university as an entity that transforms social reality.

Las mujeres se enfrentan a obstáculos que les impiden ejercer sus derechos y vivir una vida libre de violencia en todos sus ámbitos, incluido el escolar. La Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) se enfrenta a un paro estudiantil feminista impulsado por miembros de su comunidad como mecanismo de presión para que se tomen acciones en contra de la violencia hacia las mujeres en la universidad, iniciado por un caso de violencia en específico en la unidad Cuajimalpa. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar las respuestas de la UAM a las peticiones del paro estudiantil feminista del 2023 con el fin de vislumbrar los retos y desafíos para finalizar el paro, pero sobre todo para que la UAM se transforme y que regrese a su vocación transformadora. La metodología es cualitativa basada en la revisión documental y en datos estadísticos. La UAM es cuestionada en su labor como educadora, como formadora, pero también como universidad pública e institución. Se requieren de acciones específicas como: mejorar, ampliar y fortalecer la normatividad para actuar frente a la violencia; educar a la comunidad; integrar personal capacitado; y una reflexión crítica que permita generar un cambio, con el fin de mejorar los entornos universitarios y retomar el papel de la universidad como ente transformador de la realidad social. As mulheres enfrentam obstáculos que as impedem de exercer seus direitos e viver uma vida livre de violência em todas as esferas, inclusive na escola. A Universidade Autônoma Metropolitana (UAM) está enfrentando uma greve estudantil feminista impulsionada por membros de sua comunidade como um mecanismo de pressão para tomar medidas contra a violência contra as mulheres na universidade, iniciada por um caso específico de violência na unidade de Cuajimalpa. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar as respostas da UAM às demandas da greve estudantil feminista de 2023, a fim de vislumbrar os desafios para encerrar a greve, mas, acima de tudo, para que a UAM se transforme e retorne à sua vocação transformadora. A metodologia é qualitativa, baseada em análise documental e dados estatísticos. A UAM é questionada em seu trabalho como educadora, como formadora, mas também como universidade e instituição pública. São necessárias ações específicas, tais como: melhorar, ampliar e fortalecer os regulamentos para lidar com a violência; educar a comunidade; integrar pessoal treinado; e reflexão crítica para gerar mudanças, com o objetivo de melhorar os ambientes universitários e retomar o papel da universidade como uma entidade que transforma a realidade social.
