The conceptual framework articulates elements from the evolutionary economics approach about systems of innovation and from Latin-American structuralism about peripheral regions, in order to analyze the role of universities in Regional Innovation Systems (RIS). A multiple case study is conducted to analyze five interaction experiences: the relation that the University stablished with the Cluster Nogalero, the Women Council, groups of weaver women, rural goats breeders, and the business INCUBATOR. Empirical analyses covers documental information, evaluation reports from external organizations, project’s reports, and qualitative interview to key informants. Common problematics of interaction efforts are outlined identifying limitations and learnings. Among the results stand out the transference of productive techniques and the leadership of the professors. As regards the limitations the lack of linkages promotion in the University and of trained resources in technological linkage, along with RIS dimensions as structural heterogeneity, weak techno-productive and coordination competences, are highlighted. La presente investigación aborda el caso de la Universidad Nacional de Chilecito (UNdeC) en materia de vinculación tecnológica con el sector productivo de la provincia de La Rioja, Argentina, una de las regiones de menor desarrollo del país. El marco conceptual articula elementos de la corriente evolucionista sobre los sistemas de innovación y del estructuralismo latinoamericano sobre las regiones periféricas para analizar el rol de las universidades en Sistemas Regionales de Innovación (SRI). Se conduce un estudio de casos múltiple para analizar cinco experiencias de vinculación, la relación de la Universidad con el Cluster Nogalero, el Consejo de la Mujer, grupos de mujeres tejedoras, productores rurales criadores de cabras, y la INCUBADORA de emprendimientos. El análisis empírico abarca información documental, informes de evaluación de organismos externos, informes de proyectos, así como entrevistas cualitativas a informantes clave. Se plantean las problemáticas comunes a los esfuerzos de vinculación identificando limitaciones y aprendizajes. Entre los resultados se destacan la transferencia de técnicas productivas y el liderazgo de los docentes. En cuanto a las limitaciones se encuentran la falta de promoción de la vinculación en la UNdeC y de recursos formados en vinculación tecnológica, junto a las dimensiones del SRI como la heterogeneidad estructural, las débiles competencias tecno-productivas y de coordinación.
