Sumario:The article analyzes the work of those in charge of apartment buildings in Buenos Aires, considering the paradoxical situation in which they find themselves: at the crossroads of the public and private spheres. Based on a socio-anthropological methodology, we explore the emotional dimension and the relational and care work they carry out daily with their employers. Focused on the life stories of managers who live where they work, we investigate the way in which the affective and care cleavage is configured as a central component of work, at the same drawing the contours and frameworks within which relationships of care are processed. Subsequently, we show the relevance of the hybrid space that results from the tasks carried out by these workers in the intimate space that they share with their employers, which results in a bond that combines ambivalence, complicity and antagonism.
