Sumario:The article begins with a question referred to the theoretical-epistemological status of the conditions of discourse production from a perspective that combines French Materialist Discourse Analysis with the sociology of problematizations. It proposes three ways of considering the conditions of discourse production according to the moment of the research process in which they intervene and the explanatory weight that they have in results: descriptive, indicative and strategic. Each is exemplified with an empirical investigation. The article establishes the need to account for the multiplicity of trajectories, networks, devices and practices that make up the conditions of discourse production, which leads to a new question about ways of re-knotting the dispersed. Finally, it proposes the figure of the “nebula” as a way of presenting and exploring data that does not sacrifice its constitutive heterogeneity.
