| Sumario: | In this work, we address confrontational stances present in the linguistic landscape of the city of Bahía Blanca (Argentina), this is, verbal expressions of positions assumed in opposition to others that are mentioned or implied and interpreted as parasites signs (Castillo Lluch y Sáez Rivera, 2011). We have applied a census procedure in the downtown area of the city. We have classified the different confrontational stances surveyed in order to analyze the strategies and resources employed, with the aim of comparing their usage among the distinct categories that the study has allowed to recognize. To interpret the data, we have primarily employed Raymond Williams's categories (2009) of dominant, residual, and emergent positions. The surveyed productions were predominantly monolinguals. The emergent positions prevailed. |
