Sumario:This paper focuses on the policies developed by the Chinese State that aim to teach the official language of that State to people who have emigrated or were born outside its borders. It analyzes the actions carried out by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (OCAO) and which are oriented towards Chinese schools and the Chinese-Spanish bilingual elementary school in the City of Buenos Aires. The final objective of this article is to define the concept of trans-state language policy, which refers to those actions that states undertake and that are addressed to subjects living outside their borders but who are considered in some way part of that nation.
