| Sumario: | The Escuela Normal de Paraná, the first school created by the Argentine State to train teachers in 1870, has been studied mainly because of its role in promoting a model system of teaching which was to be implemented throughout the country. However, the importance of the inclusion of two foreign languages, English and French, in its initial curriculum, which constitutes the first precedent of a multilingual state linguistic policy for the primary level, has not been highlighted in the literature. The aim of this paper is to describe the place of these two foreign languages in the founding decree for the creation of this first school, comprising a training college and a primary school of application. |
