description Discusses the identification of archival documents and the principles adopted for the designation and grouping of the record series. Understanding the record series is essential, because when adopting the Documentary Typology as a methodology to identify the archival document for the action that gave rise to it and to group them using this principle, on the typological records series will fall the whole proposal of archival technical treatment. But if we generally consider the record series as a sequence of documents on the same subject, the identification, classification, and appraisal of the archival documents will focus on the subjects that are on the records, not on the actions that I have taken they exist. It is hoped that the results serve as parameters for the reflections on the need to standardize the identification of the documents and their correct denomination from the functions and activities, a criterion that does not allow misinterpretations. Integrates the scientific production of the Research Group Archival Science Documentary Genesis, UFF / CNPq.   Keywords: Identification; Archival Document; Documentary Typology; Record Series

Comprender la serie documental es esencial, porque al adoptar la Tipología Documental como metodología para identificar el documento de archivo por la acción que lo originó y agregarlo utilizando este principio, toda la propuesta para el tratamiento técnico del archivo recaerá en la serie tipológica. Pero si, en términos generales, consideramos la serie como una secuencia de documentos sobre el mismo tema, la identificación, clasificación y evaluación de los documentos se centrará en los temas que están en los documentos de archivo, y no en las acciones que los hicieron existir. Se espera que los resultados sirvan como parámetros para reflexionar sobre las necesidades de estandarizar la identificación de documentos y su denominación correcta en función de las funciones y actividades, un criterio que no permite interpretaciones. Mas, se, genericamente, considerarmos a série como uma sequência de documentos sobre o mesmo assunto, a identificação, classificação e avaliação dos documentos incidirão sobre os temas que estão nos documentos de arquivo, e não sobre as ações que os fizeram existir.
