Sumario:The Colonial Documental Collection of the Archivo Mitre is an essential repository for the research about the history of Rio de la Plata between the XVIth and early XIXth centuries. It´s constituted from the recovered documentation employed by Bartolomé Mitre in his historiographic work and makes possible the access to documents coming from the Archivo General de Indias (both trough original copies and handwritten copies), manyof which aren´t available in other archives of our country. In this paper, we analyse this composition, volume, class and form, documental types and places of publication. Alike, we aim how the labour of conservation, ordering, classification and cataloguing make easy the access and query of the documents.   Keywords: Colonial Collection; Archivo Mitre; Documental types; Places of publication.
