| Sumario: | Abstract: In the public area, the Brazilian archival reality still points out surprising data in regard to the treatment given to original documents, kept in the archives. Fundamental records are handed over to deterioration. CONARQ states that "Brazilian public archives remain peripheral in the State and are not visible to society. They lack institutionality within the administration and consequently are absent from public policies ", which is why the formulation, implementation and visibility of archival public policies is fundamental, a context in which document management occupies a central place in the debate about access to information as a requirement of administrative transparency. At the municipal level, these issues are even more sensitive, due to the proximity and direct influence exercised by municipal administrations in the daily lives of citizens. The objective of this research is to carry out a study to identify archival public policies developed and implemented in the cities of Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro, through the analysis of the Transparency Portals and the institutional websites of these city halls.
