Colocado el hombre entre los animales relativamente refractarios a la infección pneumocócica, al igual que el perro y el carnero; capaces por su misma negatividad morbosa de circunscribir el ataque infestivo, eran consideradas las afecciones agudas del aparato bronco - pleuro ~pulmonar como reacciones locales, cuando hoy, por hechos clínicos y experimentales de laboratorio, deben conciliarse como enfermedades generales con localización respiratoria.
