| Sumario: | The years that have passed have been of progress for the Argentine country, which has seen its wealth increase in relative proportions. The monetary system has been a contributing factor in this fruitful work, in terms of the guarantee that the Caja de Conversión offers in gold to the banknotes in circulation. This statement does not imply to say that the system in general is good, but that it represents a great step forward with respect to the system prior to the year 1900. Its benefits are effectively felt by the foreign market, in the favorable balances of its trade, even though its benefits in the internal order are relative. |
