Sumario:Modern technology requires that the geological study of the region to be bored be taken into account in the tunnel construction project, in order to adjust the works to the maximum safety, especially if it is a question of road construction. Likewise, the guarantee offered by the drainage tunnels belonging to the large reservoir works is of appreciable importance. In all these cases it is necessary to have a previous knowledge of the area chosen for such works, and from the geological considerations that the study provides, the necessary defense calculations will be made to obtain the required stability. These safety works consist, mainly, in the lining of the tunnel according to the petrographic and tectonic characteristics of the section crossed. It should be taken into account that in most cases it is not possible to choose the place to drill, demanding, due to the force of circumstances, a place that is not always the most suitable. All this has repercussions on the cost of the works to be constructed.
