The certificate of entrustment in favor of don Gerónimo Luis de Cabrera. Copies and transfers of the same documents during the XVI and XVII centuries
The aim of this paper is to rescue the importance of the cédulas de encomienda as a specific documentary type and, especially, to make visible a series of methodological precautions to be taken into account if they are taken as sources for a research on colonial history.
