Through this documentation, analyze in detail of the actions that were carried out for the cure of smallpox: composition and development of medical boards, evaluation of signs and symptoms, thus, applied remedies... and read into them in their proper context. La British Library (Londres) conserva la correspondencia que Juan Bautista de Orendain, secretario del Despacho de Estado, escribió a José Grimaldo, secretario de Felipe V durante su retiro de San Ildefonso, para darle comunicado de los acontecimientos sucedidos en el palacio del Buen Retiro, especialmente durante la enfermedad de Luis I, en 1724. A través de esta documentación, se analizará pormenorizadamente las actuaciones que se llevaron a cabo para la curación de las viruelas: composición y desarrollo de las juntas de médicos, valoración de los signos y síntomas, pronósticos, remedios aplicados… para así interpretarlos en su justo contexto.
