It studies the actions of the prefectures and departmental treasuries in Junín and Ayacucho, seeking to give a more local dimension to the analysis. In spite of the image of complete state chaos, it can be seen that multiple tasks and various procedures were carried out to ensure a continuous flow of income - which was always complicated - as well as to make fundamental expenditures to support the bureaucratic and military apparatus. El presente artículo aborda el manejo de las finanzas públicas peruanas durante los primeros años de la Independencia como una manera de aproximarse a la construcción de los Estados postcoloniales a partir de sus prácticas cotidianas. Se estudia el accionar de las prefecturas y tesorerías departamentales en Junín y Ayacucho, buscando darle una dimensión más local al análisis. Pese a la imagen de completo caos estatal, se observa el cumplimiento de múltiples tareas y varios procedimientos para asegurarse un continuo flujo de ingresos -que siempre era complicado-, así como realizar gastos fundamentales para el sostén del aparato burocrático y militar.
