To this end, we will try to analyze the intellectual and militant context of the period in which Freire published his most representative texts, in order to give an account of the way in which the idea of the Third World became central to his proposal, as well as the role that Freire himself played as a pedagogue committed to his time in the unfolding of that idea. En el presente artículo nos proponemos indagar acerca de la relación entre la obra y la praxis de Paulo Freire y el Tercer Mundo como concepto, como imaginario y como proyecto. Para esto procuraremos analizar el contexto intelectual y militante de la época en que Freire publica sus textos más representativos, a fin de dar cuenta del modo en el que la idea de Tercer Mundo fue tomando centralidad en su propuesta, así como el papel que el mismo Freire como pedagogo comprometido con su tiempo jugó en el despliegue de dicha idea. Neste artigo pretendemos investigar a relação entre a obra e a práxis de Paulo Freire e o Terceiro Mundo como conceito, como imaginário e como projeto. Para tanto, buscaremos analisar o contexto intelectual e militante da época em que Freire publica seus textos mais representativos, a fim de dar conta de que maneira a idéia de Terceiro Mundo ocupava o centro de sua proposta, bem como o papel que ela mesma Freire como pedagogo comprometido com o seu tempo jogou na implantação dessa idéia.
