Sumario:The present writing gives an overview of electricity and magnetism at the end of the 18th century and at the beginning of the 19th century, a context in which there is the invention of the battery by Alessandro Volta, and the development of the experience of the needle by Hans Christian Ørsted, both fundamental facts in the channeling of experimental practices and in the constitution of the theoretical bodies of the sciences. In this way, the two texts written by the danish scientist in the year 1820 (one translated from Latin to English), which were published by the journal Annals of Philosophy, are presented. They first detail the experience that took place and some of the ideas that Oersted established to give meaning to the observed phenomenon. Subsequently, new experiments are established within the framework of what he assumed as electromagnetism.
