| Sumario: | Voices from the ancient Mexican culture present in the Dictionary of the Jesuit Father Esteban de Terreros y Pando, lead us to little frequented horizons of philology in the Enlightenment. Concern for the safeguarding of codices and manuscripts from the early years of the New Spain, and the care devoted to the interpretation of prehispanic knowledge, such as that applied to understanding the calendar of ancient Mexico, are part of the critical work of some scholars of the Enlightenment, among whom Spanish and Mexican Jesuits stand out. |
