La Historia militar, civil y sagrada del Reino de Chile del jesuita chileno Miguel de Olivares, redactada poco antes de la expulsión de la Orden en 1767, contiene muchas descripciones negativas de las comunidades araucanas. Era un criollo filo español y se refleja en su relato histórico. Censura con frecuencia lo mapuche con acertadas referencias a la mi-tología grecorromana.
